The Collings 01 in Mahogany is a beautifully understated acoustic guitar, built around the warmth, clarity, and intimacy of an all-mahogany voice. Its mahogany top is paired with Honduran Mahogany back and sides and a Honduran Mahogany neck, creating a cohesive tonal foundation with exceptional balance and natural character. The body is finished in high gloss nitrocellulose lacquer and accented with tortoise binding, complemented by elegant black and white top purfling. At just 3 lbs 11 oz, the 01 has a wonderfully comfortable presence, inviting the player into its intimate scale and remarkably responsive voice.

The Ebony fingerboard features MOP short-dot inlays and a 14" to 26" compound radius, paired with a Modified V neck profile that offers a comfortable, substantial feel without sacrificing playability. The 24 7/8" scale length contributes to the guitar's relaxed response, while the 1 3/4" bone nut and drop-in bone saddle provide a traditional foundation for its articulate voice. Medium 18% nickel-silver frets, a fully adjustable truss rod, and a hybrid mortise and tenon neck joint reflect the thoughtful engineering beneath the instrument's classic appearance. The Ebony belly-style bridge features 2 1/4" spacing, with Ebony bridge and end pins accented by MOP dots.

Underneath the top, Adirondack Spruce braces arranged in a pre-war scalloped X-brace pattern give the instrument its lively response and dynamic range. An abalone rosette adds a subtle flash of color around the soundhole, while the Ebony peghead veneer carries the MOP Collings logo and is fitted with Nickel Waverly tuners. A Walnut 1-style backstrip adds another carefully considered detail, while the tortoise pickguard completes the traditional aesthetic. Strung with D'Addario EJ-16 strings in .012" to .053" gauges, the guitar is equally suited to delicate fingerstyle playing and full, resonant chord work.
