Gavilan Guitars
Gavilan Guitars is the solo venture of Levi Perry, a luthier who spent nearly two decades as a Master Builder at the Fender Custom Shop before stepping out on his own to build under his own name. The brand is named after the Spanish word for hawk and after Perry's childhood home in New Mexico, where he now builds every guitar by hand. Leaving the Custom Shop to start a namesake brand is a significant move in the guitar world, and Perry's reputation made it a notable one. His Custom Shop work had already landed instruments in the hands of artists including Mk.gee, Matty Healy of The 1975, Buddy Guy, and Adrian Young of No Doubt, establishing a track record that followed him into his new chapter.
The guitars Perry builds under the Gavilan name carry that same level of intention and craft. Early models include the Miramonte, a new body shape Perry developed for the brand, offered in configurations with P-90 pickups and finished with the relic work Perry became known for during his Custom Shop years. Each instrument is built from carefully selected tonewoods with premium hardware throughout, and every detail reflects the hands-on approach of a builder who has spent years at the top of the custom guitar industry. Gavilan is a young brand, but it arrives with a foundation most new guitar companies spend decades trying to build.
