Shop Knaggs Electric Guitars at Eddie's Guitars

Knaggs Guitars was founded in 2009 by designer Joe Knaggs and marketing veteran Peter Wolf. Both came from PRS Guitars, where Joe rose from the finish room to director of R&D and designed the McCarty Archtop and Hollowbody. The brand debuted at Musikmesse in Frankfurt in 2010 and builds its instruments in Greensboro, Maryland. Every model except the artist signatures is named after a North American river, and the designs are original shapes rather than takes on the Fender or Gibson playbook. The goal is simple: build the best guitars possible without taking shortcuts.

Knaggs electrics come in two main families. The Chesapeake series includes the Choptank, a Telecaster and Stratocaster inspired design with a deep neck profile and narrow nut, and the double-cutaway Severn, offered in SSS, HSS, and humbucker setups. The Severn Trem adds a hinged bridge on roller bearings. These guitars use a 25.5" scale and most carry Fralin pickups. The Influence series moves to a 24.75" scale with carved tops and three-on-a-side headstocks. It includes the Kenai, with a classic single-cut feel and a slimmer neck, the Keya, and the Chena, a hollowbody that sits somewhere between an ES-175 and a Benson-style archtop. Necks are shaped from stable Honduran mahogany or carefully dried quarter-sawn rock maple with a comfortable blend of V and C profiles, and the two-tone finishes with inlaid purfling have become a Knaggs signature. Steve Stevens plays a signature Knaggs, and Billy Morrison is a fan too.

If you are after a boutique American electric with real personality, a Knaggs deserves a spot on your short list. Contact Eddie’s Guitars to ask about current Knaggs availability or to set up an appointment to play one.
