The Iris JB is a guitar built in the spirit of the person it’s named after. Jason Brown, longtime Plant Manager at Circle Strings and Iris Guitar Company, has quietly become one of the most relied-upon pillars in Burlington’s small but fiercely dedicated workshop. His range runs from problem-solver to tone-chaser to steady hand in the bustle of day-to-day production. The JB model honors that versatility and reliability. It is a guitar you can trust in nearly any musical setting, shaped with the same thoughtful steadiness Jason brings to the shop floor.
This example features a reclaimed Redwood top, and it gives the guitar a beautifully seasoned voice right out of the case. Redwood’s responsiveness makes even the lightest touch bloom, while its natural warmth pairs effortlessly with the depth and clarity of the Indian Rosewood back and sides. The combination creates a wide, articulate tonal palette that welcomes fingerstyle and flatpicking with equal ease. Scalloped Adirondack Spruce braces keep the instrument lively and open, adding a gentle push behind every note.
The body is trimmed with ivoroid binding and classic B/W/B purfling that frames the Redwood top with quiet elegance. A matching B/W/B rosette completes the look. The mahogany neck sports a comfortable C-carve, and the Indian Rosewood fretboard has blind fret slots and a smooth 16-inch radius, offering a clean, unified feel from the nut all the way up the register. Small plastic dots keep the aesthetic understated, letting the wood speak for itself.
Iris fits the JB with an Indian Rosewood bar bridge featuring slanted string holes, a bone nut and saddle, and off-white plastic bridge pins. Golden Age relic brass tuners with off-white buttons reinforce the vintage-leaning character and keep tuning stable without drawing too much attention. The bolt-on mortise and tenon neck joint adds the serviceability and long-term dependability Iris is known for.
With a 25 inch scale, 1 3/4 inch nut width, and 2 5/16 inch string spacing at the bridge, the guitar sits naturally in the hands, inviting relaxed phrasing and a fluid, expressive style. At only 3 pounds 13 ounces, it feels featherlight while still projecting with surprising authority. A hard shell case rounds out the offering.
The JB is a tribute that makes perfect sense. It is honest, adaptable, durable, and quietly refined. In short, it reflects the person it was built to honor, and it stands as one of the most effortlessly musical guitars in the Iris lineup.
