The Collings 470 JL in Antiqued Black Top is a beautifully distinctive hollowbody guitar that brings vintage character together with meticulous modern craftsmanship. Its fully hollow construction with trestle block features a solid Honduran mahogany body and maple laminate top, finished in high gloss nitrocellulose lacquer. The Antiqued Black finish, non-grained ivoroid body binding, ebony fingerboard binding, graduated pearl dot inlays, and ebony peghead veneer with Mother of Pearl Collings Script logo give the instrument an understated elegance with unmistakable vintage appeal.

The Honduran mahogany neck features the distinctive 470 JL Haircut peghead profile and a comfortable 470 JL neck shape, measuring .850" at the first fret and .955" at the ninth. A 12" radius ebony fingerboard, medium 18% nickel-silver frets, 1 11/16" Delrin nut, and 24 7/8" scale length create a smooth, responsive playing feel. The extra-long mortise and tenon neck joint provides a solid foundation, while relic nickel Waverly tuners with vintage oval buttons and a 16:1 ratio offer precise tuning with period-inspired character.

A pair of custom Ron Ellis Ellisonics pickups with adjustable height deliver the heart of the 470 JL's voice, offering articulate cleans, warm harmonic depth, and rich overdriven textures. DiMarzio 500K pots, Jupiter Vintage Yellow and Orange Drop capacitors, and a treble bleed circuit preserve clarity and dynamics throughout the instrument's master volume and two-tone control layout. The pinned ebony bridge base features a Tune-o-matic saddle top with nylon saddles, paired with a Bigsby B3 vibrato for expressive pitch movement and classic visual presence. Black phenolic pickup rings and black/silver or black/gold reflector knobs complete the tasteful hardware package.

Compact, resonant, and exceptionally refined, the 470 JL measures 17 3/8" in body length, 13 1/2" across the lower bout, and 1 13/16" in depth, with a total length of 38 3/4" and a weight of approximately 6 lbs 3 oz. An acrylic tortoise or parchment pickguard, black/cream/black truss rod cover, and high gloss nitrocellulose finish add the final touches to an instrument that feels as considered as it sounds. Strung with D'Addario NYXL1149 strings in .011" to .049" gauge and supplied with a deluxe hardshell case, the Collings 470 JL is a soulful, highly individual guitar built for players who appreciate vintage-inspired tone, effortless playability, and exceptional attention to detail.
