The Collings DS2A Hill Country is a beautifully voiced acoustic guitar that brings together exceptional tonewoods, meticulous construction, and timeless craftsmanship. Its Adirondack spruce top is paired with East Indian rosewood back and sides, producing a rich, powerful voice with exceptional clarity, dynamic range, and harmonic depth. Built and voiced to Collings' Hill Country specifications, it offers a remarkably responsive character, with a warm, resonant low end, articulate trebles, and the headroom to blossom under a strong attack. The 25 1/2" scale, 15 5/8" body width, 20 7/8" body length, and 4 7/8" body depth give the instrument a substantial yet balanced presence, while its 4 lbs 5 oz weight keeps it comfortable and lively in the hands.

The Honduran mahogany neck features the DS Hill Country profile, a fully adjustable truss rod, and a mortise and tenon hybrid neck joint. Its ebony fingerboard has a 14" to 26" compound radius and is adorned with elegant gold MOP long diamond and squares inlays. The aged bone 1 3/4" nut, aged bone cutthrough saddle, and ebony belly-style bridge with 2 5/16" spacing provide a precise and highly responsive playing platform. Ebony bridge pins and end pin complement the instrument, while medium 18% nickel-silver frets and Relic Nickel Waverly tuners combine reliable performance with a beautifully understated vintage character. The tapered slotted square peghead features a volute and an East Indian rosewood veneer, with no Collings logo on the front and the logo discreetly stamped on the back.

Every detail of the DS2A Hill Country reflects a devotion to understated beauty and traditional workmanship. Ivoroid body binding and ebony fingerboard binding frame the instrument with elegant contrast, while the hand-poured tortoise pickguard is matched by the hand-poured rosette ring, wedge, and heel cap. The two-style zipper backstrip adds another distinctive touch. Beneath the surface, Sitka spruce braces arranged in Collings' Hill Country scalloped X-brace pattern, including an abbreviated soundboard graft or tongue brace, help shape the guitar's remarkably open and expressive voice. High-gloss, ultra-thin nitrocellulose lacquer on the body and neck allows the woods to resonate freely while preserving the refined visual character of the instrument.

Strung with D'Addario EJ-17 strings in .013" to .056" gauge, this Collings DS2A Hill Country is an exceptionally versatile instrument, equally compelling for fingerstyle, flatpicking, intricate chord work, and full-bodied rhythm playing. Its voice is articulate without becoming clinical, powerful without losing its sensitivity, and rich with the complex overtones that make a fine acoustic guitar so captivating. Finished with a deluxe hardshell case, this DS2A represents the meeting of exceptional Adirondack spruce, East Indian rosewood, Hill Country voicing, and extraordinary attention to detail, resulting in an instrument with a distinctive voice, elegant presence, and the kind of musical character that only deepens with time.
