Santa Cruz Guitar Company Don Edwards Signature Model #1170
Celebrating the 50th anniversary of legendary cowboy singer and poet Don Edwards' remarkable career, the Santa Cruz Guitar Company created one of its most distinctive signature instruments. Designed in collaboration with SCGC founder Richard Hoover, the Don Edwards Signature Model is a beautifully understated all-mahogany 12-fret OO that embodies the warmth, clarity, and timeless character prized by traditional fingerstyle players.
Built with a solid mahogany top, back, and sides, this guitar delivers a rich, woody voice with exceptional balance, focused midrange, and surprising harmonic complexity. Scalloped Adirondack spruce bracing, attached with traditional hot hide glue, provides outstanding responsiveness and dynamic range, while the comfortable V-shaped neck and short 24.75" scale offer an effortless playing experience.
Visually, the Don Edwards Signature is elegantly appointed with a vintage-inspired slotted headstock featuring the classic Santa Cruz script logo, a custom sunburst finish, ivoroid/tortoise/ivoroid rosette, tortoise OO-17 style pickguard, and premium gold Waverly three-on-a-plate tuners fitted with Snakewood buttons. The ebony fingerboard is highlighted by a distinctive Lone Star inlay and Don Edwards' signature, making this model both a tribute and a collector's piece.
At just 3 lbs. 10 oz., this guitar is exceptionally lightweight and remarkably resonant, producing the open, intimate voice that has become a hallmark of Santa Cruz craftsmanship.
