The Martin Custom Shop D-45 VTS is an exceptional, one-of-a-kind dreadnought that brings together premium tonewoods, vintage-inspired construction, and the extraordinary level of detail expected from Martin’s Custom Shop. At the heart of this instrument is a Premium Grade 7 Adirondack Spruce top treated with Martin’s Vintage Tone System (VTS), paired with beautiful Cocobolo back and sides. This combination produces the powerful projection, headroom, clarity, and dynamic response associated with Adirondack Spruce, while the Cocobolo body contributes warmth, richness, sustain, and impressive harmonic complexity.

The top is supported by Golden Era-style, scalloped 5/16" Adirondack Spruce bracing in a carefully selected construction designed to maximize the instrument’s responsiveness and tonal power. The traditional D-14 fret body and dovetail neck joint are complemented by a genuine Mahogany neck with Martin’s Performing Artist profile, a 25.4" scale length, 1 3/4" bone nut, and 16" radius ebony fingerboard. A 1930-style ebony belly bridge with a long drop-in bone saddle and 2 3/16" string spacing provides a classic foundation for excellent sustain, articulation, and resonance.

As a Custom Shop D-45, the visual appointments are truly spectacular. Antique White Boltaron binding surrounds the body, headplate, and fingerboard, while extensive Style 45 mosaic purfling and select abalone pearl work adorn the top, back, sides, endpiece, and fingerboard. The 45-style Marquis rosette features intricate fiber and abalone detailing, and the top is finished with an elegant faux tortoise pickguard. The black ebony fingerboard carries Style 45 hexagonal select abalone inlays, while the Cocobolo headplate features a select abalone C.F. Martin block logo. A Cocobolo body and headplate, East Indian Rosewood side strips, and a distinctive Style 45 wedge endpiece further showcase the meticulous craftsmanship of this instrument.
