There is something undeniably cool about a well-loved Gibson Les Paul, and this 1996 Les Paul Studio in Alpine White has all the character, attitude, and unmistakable rock and roll spirit you could ask for. Nearly three decades of life have given its once brilliant white finish a wonderfully aged appearance, with subtle cream-colored hues, beautifully worn gold hardware, and a striking contrast against the black pickguard and dark fingerboard. It's a classic combination that only seems to get better with time. With its understated appointments and unmistakable Les Paul silhouette, this Studio captures everything that made Gibson's 1990s instruments so appealing.
Built around a resonant mahogany body and a solid mahogany neck, this Les Paul delivers the thick, muscular voice and singing sustain that have defined generations of electric guitar music. A Gibson 490R humbucker in the neck position offers warmth, depth, and a wonderfully expressive character, while the hotter 498T bridge pickup brings plenty of bite, harmonic richness, and authoritative crunch. From smoky blues and articulate cleans to saturated leads and full-throttle rock, this guitar has an impressive range of voices. Its 24 3/4" scale length, comfortable 12" fingerboard radius, and pearloid trapezoid inlays give it that familiar Gibson playing experience, while the Gibson Deluxe tuners and gold hardware complete its timeless aesthetic. Weighing in at 9 lb 2 oz, it has the reassuring substance of a classic Les Paul.
Built in 1996, this example is in good condition, showing honest cosmetic wear consistent with its age and use. There are scattered finish dings, scratches, and scuffs throughout, along with light fret wear, hardware patina, and areas of finish fading and discoloration. Notably, there is some guitar stand-related discoloration visible on both the neck and body, along with additional signs of aging documented in our photographs. These imperfections tell the story of a guitar that has been played and enjoyed, rather than tucked away and forgotten. Most importantly, it has been beautifully set up, plays exceptionally well, and sounds absolutely fantastic.
With its naturally aged Alpine White finish, vintage gold hardware, and unmistakable Gibson attitude, this 1996 Les Paul Studio is a wonderfully charismatic instrument with plenty of music still ahead of it. An original hardshell case is included.
