The Gallagher Provenir Grand Auditorium represents a bold new chapter for one of America’s most historic guitar makers. Under the ownership of David Mathis, Gallagher is building upon its deeply rooted legacy while introducing a fresh and thoughtful vision for the future. Although the Gallagher name has long been associated with the power, clarity and projection demanded by bluegrass, country, western and folk musicians, the new Provenir Series explores a more intimate and responsive side of the company’s voice. Light construction, expressive body shapes and carefully considered tonewood pairings make these instruments especially compelling for fingerstyle players, contemporary acoustic musicians and anyone who values nuance, color and dynamic sensitivity. Showcased at the 2026 Fretboard Summit, this Provenir Grand Auditorium offers a striking first look at where Mathis is taking this historic Tennessee workshop.

At its heart is a torrefied Adirondack Spruce soundboard paired with an exceptional set of Brazilian Rosewood back and sides. Adirondack Spruce provides tremendous headroom, clarity and structural strength, while the torrefaction process gives the top a more relaxed and seasoned character from the very beginning. It responds easily to a delicate touch, yet retains the power and composure to accommodate a more aggressive right hand. Brazilian Rosewood brings remarkable depth, ringing overtones and a broad harmonic spectrum, surrounding each fundamental with color while preserving the separation necessary for complex fingerstyle arrangements.

The Grand Auditorium body gives this pairing room to breathe. Larger and more expansive than the Provenir Parlor, it produces a full, enveloping voice with rich bass presence, a clear and articulate midrange and trebles that remain luminous high along the fingerboard. Its lightly built construction allows the body to react quickly, translating subtle changes in touch into meaningful shifts in volume, texture and tone. It is the kind of guitar that rewards an expressive player, offering warmth and intimacy at low volume while retaining the authority, projection and dynamic range expected from the Gallagher name.

Visually, the guitar is both dramatic and beautifully refined. The sunburst finish moves from a glowing amber center into deep shades of tobacco and near black around the perimeter, emphasizing the graceful proportions of the Grand Auditorium body. Ebony binding frames the body and headstock with crisp definition, while Abalone purfling surrounds the top, back and sides in brilliant flashes of color. A Cocobolo tile rosette, bordered with fine Maple purfling, creates an intricate focal point without distracting from the natural beauty of the Adirondack Spruce.

The Brazilian Rosewood back and sides give the guitar an unmistakable sense of depth and luxury, complemented by an Abalone backstrip that catches the light along the center seam. A Cocobolo headstock veneer continues the warm visual character of the rosette and is crowned by an Abalone Provenir fleur de lis. Coordinating Abalone Provenir inlays travel across the richly variegated Striped Ebony fingerboard, creating an identity that feels distinctive to this new series. A Brazilian Rosewood bridge, bone pins with Abalone dots and nickel Waverly tuning machines with Ebony buttons complete the presentation with elegance and restraint.

The Mahogany neck features a comfortable C profile, medium frets and a 14 inch fingerboard radius. Its 1 3/4 inch nut width and 2 1/4 inch bridge spacing provide generous room for clean fingerstyle articulation, while the 25.25 inch scale length offers an excellent balance between supple playability, note definition and string tension. The 14 fret neck joint also gives the Grand Auditorium a familiar, versatile feel and easy access to the upper register.

The Provenir Grand Auditorium is a beautiful expression of David Mathis’s emerging influence at Gallagher Guitars. It honors the strength, musical integrity and American craftsmanship that established the Gallagher name, but channels those qualities through a lighter, more responsive and harmonically adventurous instrument. Powerful when called upon, sensitive beneath a gentle touch and breathtaking in both materials and execution, this Adirondack Spruce and Brazilian Rosewood Grand Auditorium demonstrates just how exciting Gallagher’s next chapter promises to be. Guitar number 4544 includes a hardshell case.
