Long before his own name appeared on a headstock, Dale Fairbanks developed his instincts through years of vintage guitar repair and restoration. Time spent inside countless golden era instruments gave him an unusually intimate understanding of how lightly built acoustics age, settle, and come alive. His work is shaped by more than admiration for old guitars. It reflects a deep, practical knowledge of their materials, construction methods, strengths, and vulnerabilities. The F 35 Standard pairs a sunburst Sitka spruce top with mahogany back and sides, a timeless combination that delivers warmth, clarity, and a strong fundamental voice. Adirondack red spruce bracing gives the guitar excellent headroom and definition, while the short 24.75 inch scale lends the strings a supple feel and encourages the top to respond easily beneath both a flatpick and a lighter touch. At only 3 pounds 10 ounces, the guitar feels alive in the hands, producing dry, woody trebles, a warm but controlled bass, and the quick, breathy response associated with a great vintage mahogany guitar.
