The Iris WE is a beautifully proportioned orchestra model with the understated appearance, responsive construction, and old soul character that have become signatures of Iris Guitars. Named for longtime Iris employee Will Ehster, who played a meaningful role in its design, the WE brings a personal story to the Iris lineup. Its familiar body shape and versatile voice make it an inviting companion for nearly any style of playing, while this extraordinary combination of Salmon Trap Sinker Sitka spruce and cocobolo gives the model a particularly rich and distinctive personality.

The Salmon Trap Sinker Sitka spruce top carries a sense of history that can be seen in its deeply aged color and heard in its mature response. Long preserved before being reclaimed for instrument making, this rare spruce possesses the lightness and strength that make Sitka such an enduring soundboard material, joined by the seasoned character of wood shaped by time. Scalloped Adirondack spruce bracing allows the top to move freely, giving the guitar an immediate response, excellent dynamic range, and a voice that feels open from the first note.

Cocobolo back and sides add tremendous depth, power, and harmonic color. Known for its density and reflective character, cocobolo produces a strong low end, brilliant trebles, and layers of overtones that surround the fundamental without obscuring it. Paired with the Sinker Sitka top, it gives this WE a broad and cinematic sound with impressive projection, lingering sustain, and a clear sense of dimension. Fingerstyle passages bloom with color and separation, while strummed chords become wide, powerful, and richly textured.

The natural beauty of these woods is complemented by the restrained vintage styling of Iris. Tortoise binding warms the edges of the body, while black, white, and black top purfling and a matching rosette add crisp traditional detail. The Indian rosewood fingerboard has a 16 inch radius, blind fret slots, and small plastic dot markers, while the Indian rosewood bar bridge features slanted pin holes and off white plastic bridge pins. A flower headstock logo provides a graceful finishing touch, joined by Golden Age relic brass tuners with cream buttons.

A mahogany neck with a comfortable C shape carve gives the guitar a familiar and welcoming feel. The 25.5 inch scale length offers definition, projection, and satisfying string tension, while the 1 3/4 inch nut width and spacious 2 5/16 inch bridge spacing provide an open playing surface for fingerstyle technique, alternate tunings, and intricate chord work. A bone nut and saddle promote clarity and sustain, while the bolt on mortise and tenon neck joint provides a stable and practical foundation for years of playing.

Weighing 4 pounds 3 ounces and accompanied by a hard shell case, the Iris WE in Salmon Trap Sinker Sitka Spruce and Cocobolo is a soulful meeting of historic material, dramatic tonewood, and timeless design. Its voice is deep, colorful, and commanding, yet sensitive enough to reveal every subtle change in touch. It is a rare and compelling interpretation of the WE, filled with history, musical depth, and unmistakable Iris character.
