The 2025 Preston Thompson D-EIA is a beautifully crafted, vintage-inspired dreadnought that showcases the exceptional tone, craftsmanship, and attention to detail for which Preston Thompson Guitars are known. This example pairs an Adirondack Spruce top with highly desirable Old Growth East Indian Rosewood back and sides, creating a powerful and highly responsive tonal platform. The combination delivers the headroom, projection, warmth, and harmonic complexity expected from a premium dreadnought, while retaining the dynamic sensitivity needed for nuanced playing.
The Adirondack top is supported by forward-shifted Adirondack X-bracing with pre-war scalloped Adirondack bracing, a traditional recipe designed to maximize resonance and responsiveness. The guitar features a 1 3/4" bone nut, soft V neck profile, 28-style ebony fingerboard, and elegant Diamonds and Squares fretboard inlays. An ebony belly bridge with through saddle, bone saddle, and bone nut provide a classic foundation for strong note definition and excellent sustain. A tortoise pickguard and Waverly nickel Butterbean tuners complete the understated vintage aesthetic.
Visually, the D-EIA is filled with refined period-inspired appointments. Ivoroid binding surrounds the body, while herringbone top purfling and a three-ring 28-style rosette add classic dreadnought character. The back features a distinctive zig-zag backstrip, while the solid headstock is adorned with a figured ebony peghead overlay, mother-of-pearl Preston Thompson logo, and Torch Fertility peghead inlay. These details give the guitar an unmistakably handcrafted appearance without distracting from the natural beauty of the Old Growth Indian Rosewood.
Weighing just 4 lbs. 9 oz., this 2025 Preston Thompson D-EIA is an exceptional example of a modern handcrafted dreadnought built around pre-war-inspired construction and premium tonewoods. With its Old Growth East Indian Rosewood body, Adirondack Spruce top, forward-shifted scalloped bracing, sophisticated appointments, and exceptionally comfortable neck, it offers the combination of power, responsiveness, and tonal complexity that discerning acoustic players seek. It comes complete with a deluxe hardshell case.
