The Fender Custom Shop Ziricote Thinline Telecaster in Natural, released as part of the 2026 Summer Dealer Event, is a masterfully executed expression of lightweight resonance, exotic tonewoods, and vintage inspired refinement, brought together with the precision and artistry expected from the Custom Shop. Built by apprentice Mike Morales, this instrument reflects the hands on training and craftsmanship development within the Fender Custom Shop, where apprentice builders work under master supervision to create instruments of exceptional quality and character. The Closet Classic finish lends a gently aged patina across the instrument, complemented by chrome and nickel hardware that enhances its understated yet elevated aesthetic. At just 6 lbs 11 oz, the double bound thinline roasted alder body with Ziricote top delivers an airy, responsive character with remarkable acoustic openness and sustain.
The roasted birdseye maple neck, carved to a 10/56 “V” profile with a contoured heel, offers both classic feel and modern access, blending vintage inspiration with improved upper fret comfort. Its roasted birdseye maple fingerboard continues the theme of premium craftsmanship, shaped with a 9.5 to 12 inch compound radius that supports effortless chording in the lower positions and smooth, controlled bends higher up the neck. Twenty one jumbo 6100 frets provide a bold, confident playing surface, while the bone nut and 50s style truss rod preserve traditional Fender construction integrity. Vintage “F” style tuning machines complete the neck with reliable stability and classic visual appeal.
Tonally, this Thinline Telecaster offers a compelling blend of warmth, clarity, and bite. The neck position features a Seymour Duncan Antiquity P90 soapbar pickup, delivering rich midrange presence, woody depth, and expressive dynamic response. In the bridge position, a hand wound 51 Nocaster pickup provides crisp attack, articulate twang, and the unmistakable character of early Telecaster design. Together, they create a versatile sonic palette that spans from thick, vocal lead tones to bright, cutting rhythm textures, all controlled through a simple three way switch and modern Tele wiring for intuitive operation.
The RSD Tele style bridge without pickup maintains a clean, functional aesthetic while supporting stable intonation and resonant string response. The absence of a pickguard allows the Ziricote top to take visual center stage, highlighting its natural grain patterns and organic character. With chrome and nickel Closet Classic hardware subtly aged to suggest a well preserved instrument, this Thinline Telecaster embodies a balance of elegance, resonance, and Custom Shop craftsmanship.
Complete with a deluxe hardshell case, strap, and certificate of authenticity, this 2026 Summer Dealer Event Ziricote Thinline Telecaster built by apprentice Mike Morales stands as a lightweight, highly expressive instrument designed for players who value both sonic versatility and refined aesthetic detail.
