The Driftwood "UnEarthed II" Grand Session is more than a guitar. It is a conversation with the distant past, shaped into an instrument of remarkable beauty and voice by Chris Alvarado, Master Luthier for Driftwood Guitars. After years behind the bench refining his craft, Alvarado has created an extraordinary work that draws together some of the rarest and most ancient tonewoods on earth, paired with details that feel more like fine jewelry than traditional guitar building.

At the heart of the UnEarthed II is a Master Grade Dark Forest Ancient Cypress top, carbon dated at an astonishing 3,758 years old. This remarkable wood stood long before the rise and fall of ancient empires, and its voice carries a depth, dryness, and responsiveness that only centuries can create. The top is paired with Master Grade "Hemplands Haul" Ancient Bog Oak back and sides, carbon dated at an incredible 5,000 years old. Buried and preserved beneath the earth for millennia, this ancient bog oak offers a dark, complex tonal character with immense warmth, clarity, and a hauntingly rich low end.

The back and sides are built full thickness with double laminated construction, giving the guitar tremendous strength and projection while allowing every nuance of these ancient woods to come alive. Snakewood bindings frame the body, fingerboard, headstock, and soundhole with striking visual drama, while the partial snakewood backstrip and continuous end graft tie the entire design together in elegant fashion.

The visual centerpiece is the Woolly Mammoth Ivory and bronze rosette, a stunning nod to the end of the Bronze Age theme that inspired this instrument. Bronze, once the defining metal of civilization, is paired here with ancient organic materials that predate recorded history itself. Throughout the guitar, those same themes continue in exquisite detail. A snakewood heel cap carries a Woolly Mammoth Ivory oak leaf inlay, its veins rendered in 24k gold. That same oak leaf motif reappears on the fingerboard, set into the Leopard Ebony with graceful precision.

The use of Woolly Mammoth Ivory and Fossilized Walrus Tusk elevates the UnEarthed II into something truly singular. The nut, saddle, and bridge pins are all carved from Fossilized Walrus Tusk, lending both visual distinction and a crisp, articulate tonal response. These rare materials connect the instrument to a vanished world, reinforcing the sense that this guitar is not simply built from wood, but from history itself.

A solid wenge neck provides strength and stability, further reinforced with a double carbon fiber system. Gold Waverly tuning machines with snakewood buttons complete the look with understated luxury.
