The Collings I 30 LC Aged Bigsby in Iced Tea Sunburst carries the spirit of mid century hollowbody electric craft into the present day with a level of detail that feels almost impossibly refined. It begins with a fully hollow maple laminate body supported by parallel trestle braces, a structure that keeps the airiness and bloom of a true hollow instrument while offering the focus and control demanded by modern players. The iced tea sunburst finish glows beneath its aged nitrocellulose lacquer, a soft patina that lends both visual depth and the subtle sense of a guitar already seasoned by years of music.
Its Honduran mahogany neck joins the body with an extra long mortise and tenon, a joint Collings favors for the way it maximizes resonance and mechanical integrity. Non grained ivoroid binds both the body and fingerboard, creating a clean line around the rosewood board that hosts long mother of pearl dots. The ebony peghead veneer bears the Collings logo set with quiet confidence, paired with the familiar Haircut profile and a set of nickel Gotoh tuners that turn with elegant precision.
A pair of Lollar P90s sits ready beneath unbound F holes, translating the guitar’s acoustic liveliness into electric color. Their voice is shaped through CTS 500K pots and Jupiter Vintage Yellow capacitors wired in classic 1950s style, giving the instrument a dynamic sweep and the ability to move from smoky warmth to a brighter, more articulate snarl with effortless grace. Every touch of the strings, from soft comping to wide open chords, gains clarity through the Kluson ABR 1 bridge and the expressive shimmer of the Bigsby tailpiece.
In hand, the 24 and seven eighths inch scale length, twelve inch radius and medium nickel silver frets create a natural and inviting feel, lightened by the guitar's remarkably low weight of six pounds and seven ounces. The black and cream appointments, from the pickguard to the truss rod cover, add the final strokes of contrast. It arrives in a deluxe hardshell case, completing the sense of an instrument built with deep intention. The I 30 LC Aged Bigsby stands as a beautifully voiced hollowbody, rich in character, precise in execution and unmistakably Collings.
