The Santa Cruz 1934 D Custom built with Adirondack Spruce and Brazilian Rosewood is a powerful, historically inspired dreadnought that captures the soul of the finest pre-war instruments while delivering the refinement and consistency of modern Santa Cruz craftsmanship. At its heart is a rare, 1930’s harvested bearclaw Adirondack spruce top—a tonewood revered for its explosive headroom, clarity, and unmistakable vintage character. Paired with scalloped Advanced X Adirondack spruce bracing attached with hot hide glue, the top responds with exceptional energy and openness, producing a voice that is bold, articulate, and deeply resonant from the lightest touch to the hardest strum.
The back and sides are crafted from 1930’s harvested Tier 1 Brazilian Rosewood, offering legendary depth, complexity, and sustain. This extraordinary set delivers thunderous low end, shimmering highs, and a rich harmonic bloom that defines the classic dreadnought sound. Brazilian rosewood is carried throughout the instrument with a matching rosette, bridge, fingerboard, and headstock veneer, creating a cohesive visual and tonal identity that feels both luxurious and historically authentic.
Elegant appointments elevate the vintage aesthetic. Curly koa body, fingerboard, and headstock bindings add warmth and contrast, complemented by a curly koa backstrip and traditional herringbone top purfling. Style 42 snowflake fingerboard inlays, highlighted by the SCGC logo at the 12th fret, lend a timeless, high-end elegance, while white side dots provide subtle visual guidance. A Dalmatian pickguard reinforces the pre-war vibe and protects the top without sacrificing style.
Designed for both power and precision, the 25.25" scale length offers strong projection and snap, while the 1 11/16" nut width and 2 3/16" bridge spacing provide a familiar, versatile feel suited to flatpicking, strumming, and articulate fingerstyle work. The thru bridge saddle and bone pins enhance energy transfer and sustain, contributing to the guitar’s immediate response and authoritative voice.
Gold Gotoh 510 tuning machines ensure smooth, reliable tuning and complete the instrument’s refined look. Housed in a premium hard case, the Santa Cruz 1934 D Custom is more than a guitar—it is a tribute to the golden era of American acoustic instruments, built with rare materials, uncompromising craftsmanship, and a sound that is as commanding as it is inspiring.
