The Collings 470 JL in Antiqued Blonde Top brings Julian Lage’s vision into a fully hollow electric that is light, resonant and remarkably expressive. Its solid Honduran mahogany body is paired with a maple laminate top, supported by a trestle block that tightens up the attack while keeping the airy response that makes this guitar so touch sensitive. The Honduran mahogany neck and extra long mortise and tenon joint give the instrument a grounded, connected feel, and the ebony fingerboard with graduated pearl dots keeps the look understated and classic.
Ron Ellis Ellisonics pickups sit at the heart of the model. They deliver a wide dynamic range with a clear, open voice, and Collings sets them in adjustable black phenolic rings for precise height control. The electronics reflect the same level of care, using DiMarzio 500K pots, Jupiter Vintage Yellow caps and an Orange Drop treble bleed, all controlled by a master volume and two tones.
Playability stays effortless thanks to the 24 7/8 inch scale, a comfortable 470 JL neck carve that starts at 0.850 at the first fret, and medium nickel silver frets on a 12 inch radius board. The 1 11/16 inch Delrin nut, relic nickel Waverly tuners and Collings trapeze tailpiece round out the setup. An ebony bridge base with a tune o matic top and nylon saddles brings a warm, responsive attack.
Visually, the Antiqued Blonde Top finish highlights the clean lines of the body, set off by non grained ivoroid binding, ebony fingerboard binding and an ebony peghead veneer with the Collings script logo. The guitar ships in a deluxe hardshell case and weighs 5 pounds 14 ounces.
