Originally designed in mid-1970s Brooklyn by Stuart Spector and Alan Charney, the SB-1 predates the iconic NS series and represents the earliest era of Spector craftsmanship. This anniversary edition faithfully captures the defining characteristics of those pioneering instruments, blending vintage-inspired design with the precision and quality of a modern Custom Shop build.

This example features solid black walnut body wings, delivering a rich, warm tonal foundation with focused lows, articulate mids, and striking natural grain patterns. The 3-piece maple neck is carved to a comfortable standard profile, paired with a smooth Pau Ferro fingerboard adorned with classic mother-of-pearl dot inlays and white side markers for timeless style and effortless playability. A matching wooden headstock with an inlaid MOP logo completes the refined, cohesive aesthetic.

At the heart of the SB-1 is a DiMarzio Model One pickup, known for its thick, punchy voice and vintage character. Combined with straightforward passive volume and tone controls, this setup offers responsive dynamics and a wide range of usable tones suited for any playing environment.
