One of the most exhilarating aspects of the Live-Edge series is the endless inspiration nature provides. Organic forms and intricate patterns are everywhere, waiting to be uncovered. In Cloudburst, the swirling grain of maple burl rises like a billowing cumulus cloud at the seamless junction of neck and body, a natural spectacle frozen in wood.

To ensure this sculptural form remains comfortable to play, I crafted a leg rest from bent and laminated wood—cocobolo rosewood and maple—echoing the instrument’s overall aesthetic. The neck is a single, flawless slab of cocobolo rosewood, a rarity verging on unobtainium, shaped to a 622-654mm multiscale. As always, the medium-tall stainless steel frets are plek-processed for absolute precision.

Cloudburst also debuts the first release of the stacked-humbucker pickups. Their laser-cut cocobolo bobbins, layered into an all-wood construction, offer both a striking visual and tonal distinction. A full wind and dual Alnico 8 magnets turn this guitar into a hard-rock powerhouse, delivering immense clarity and punch.

Elsewhere, cutting-edge meets craftsmanship—every metal component, from the bridge to the wrap-lock headless tuners, the volume knob, and even the strap button, is crafted from 3D-printed stainless steel, pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in modern luthiery.
