The PRS DGT (David Grissom Trem) in Charcoal is a finely honed solidbody electric guitar built to the exacting standards of one of the most tone-conscious players in modern music. Designed in close collaboration with David Grissom, this model reflects decades of onstage and studio experience, resulting in an instrument that prioritizes feel, musicality, and dynamic response above all else. The Charcoal finish, applied in a high-gloss nitrocellulose lacquer, highlights the violin-carved maple top while lending the guitar a refined, understated elegance that feels equally at home under stage lights or in the studio.

The tonal foundation of the DGT is rooted in its classic maple-and-mahogany construction. A maple top adds clarity, snap, and articulation, while the mahogany back provides warmth, depth, and sustain. This solidbody design delivers a balanced, harmonically rich voice that responds beautifully to subtle changes in pick attack and volume control. With a 25" scale length and 22 frets, the DGT offers familiar PRS playability with a slightly more traditional feel that suits expressive lead work and rhythm playing alike.

The one-piece mahogany neck is set into the body and carved to the proprietary DGT neck profile, which is slightly fuller than standard PRS shapes for enhanced comfort and tonal mass. Measuring 27/32" at the 1/2 fret and 61/64" at the 12 1/2 fret, the neck fills the hand without feeling cumbersome, while the 1 21/32" nut width and 2 7/32" width at the body provide precise, confident string spacing. A rosewood fretboard with a 10" radius and classic PRS bird inlays ensures smooth playability, effortless bending, and a familiar visual identity.

Electronics are purpose-built for musical flexibility and control. The DGT pickups in both the bass and treble positions are voiced for clarity, warmth, and dynamic sensitivity, delivering everything from shimmering cleans to rich, articulate overdrive. A unique control layout featuring two volume controls—one for each pickup—paired with a push/pull tone control and a 3-way toggle switch allows players to blend pickups and shape gain in highly expressive ways, a hallmark of David Grissom’s playing style.

Premium hardware completes the instrument with performance and reliability in mind. The PRS Patented Tremolo, Gen II, offers smooth action and excellent tuning stability, while PRS Phase III locking tuners with faux-bone buttons add a vintage-inspired touch alongside modern precision. Nickel hardware, a PRS nut, and a “DGT” truss rod cover round out the details. Strung with PRS Signature 11–49 strings (with a plain G) and tuned to standard E, the PRS DGT – Charcoal stands as a deeply musical, player-focused instrument, designed to inspire nuanced expression and deliver exceptional tone in any setting.
