Shelton Electric Guitars — Remember the Future

Shelton Breeden spent more than a decade buying, selling, setting up, and restoring thousands of vintage and used guitars from his base in Frederick, Maryland, developing along the way an unusually precise understanding of exactly what separates a great guitar from a merely good one. He knew which vintage specs felt right under the fingers and which were romantic myths. He knew which components aged well and which failed. He knew the difference between a guitar that looked the part and one that actually played it.

When he finally decided to build his own instruments, that accumulated knowledge didn't just inform the process. It defined it.

Shelton Electric Instruments launched with a tagline that captures the brand's philosophy in three words: Remember the Future. These guitars look like the classic American electrics that defined popular music for seventy years, feel like instruments that have been broken in through a decade of hard playing, and perform with the precision, reliability, and tonal sophistication of the finest modern boutique instruments available at any price. The vintage mojo is real. So is everything else.

Built on the Right Parts

Shelton has never cut corners on components, and the results are immediately audible and tactile. Bodies are lightweight alder, ash, or pine. Necks are USA-made maple with comfortable C profiles and compound radius rosewood fingerboards that reward both chord work and single-note playing equally. Pickups are sourced exclusively from the best independent winders in the country, primarily Brian Porter of Porter Pickups and Lambertones, with Fralin single coils appearing on select models. Electronics are Emerson Custom, wired with additional switching and tonal functionality that gives each Shelton a palette of sounds well beyond what its vintage appearance might suggest. Mastery bridges and vibratos handle pitch stability duties across the offset models. Finishes are nitrocellulose lacquer in a full range of period-correct and custom colors, available in gloss, satin, light aged, and Artifact Aged options.

The Models

GalaxyFlite — Shelton's offset flagship and the model that first brought the brand to national attention. Built on a Jazzmaster-inspired platform and available in multiple configurations, from the standard single-coil version with Mastery hardware and Emerson Custom wiring, all the way through to the Super and Super III variants with Porter Wide Range Humbuckers, bound fingerboards, block inlays, and advanced tone circuits that open up sounds no standard offset wiring can touch.

TimeFlite — Shelton's T-style series, taking the Telecaster format as its foundation and improving on it in every practical way. Available in standard and semi-hollow Archer configurations, with pickup options ranging from Porter and Lambertones single coils to Gold Foil pickups in a mini humbucker footprint for players who want a warmer, more acoustically complex character.

SolarFlite and Solar Arrow — Shelton's own original body designs, built from the ground up rather than derived from any existing guitar. The Solar Arrow develops the reverse offset SolarFlite silhouette further with deep body sculpting, pronounced bevels, and a rock-oriented aesthetic that makes it the boldest-looking instrument in the lineup.

For Players Who Know the Difference

Shelton guitars occupy a unique and valuable position in the boutique market: instruments with the heart and soul of the great American vintage electrics, built with components and craftsmanship that put them in genuine competition with custom builders charging considerably more. Players who pick one up for the first time tend to reach the same conclusion: these play as well as any guitar they have ever held, at any price.
