Woodrite Electric Basses — Charlotte Heavy, Built for the Low End
Everything that makes a Woodrite guitar extraordinary applies directly to the basses. Steve Reis of Does It Doom and the Woodbine Custom Shop set out in 2021 to solve a genuine problem in the heavy music world: the instruments players wanted, the ones with the tonewoods, the pickups, the hardware, and the uncompromising aesthetics that heavy music demands, were either sitting in a custom shop with a four-grand price tag and a year-long wait, or they simply did not exist. Woodrite built the bridge between those two realities, and the basses are the most direct expression of that mission on the low end.
Two models cover the territory. Both ship in C standard. Both include a custom-fitted Woodrite hardshell case. Both are available in right and left-handed configurations, a detail that matters more than most manufacturers acknowledge. And both are built to a standard that player after player describes as impossible to believe at the price.
The Models
Graver Bass — The most technically specified bass Woodrite makes, and one of the most thoughtfully engineered heavy music basses available at any price point. A double P-style pickup configuration featuring Lace Sensor Man O' War P-Bass pickups delivers aggressive yet controlled tone with vintage character and modern punch, the patented Lace design providing rich harmonic content, increased sustain, and a dynamic range that cuts through any mix without losing the fundamental low-end authority that heavy music demands. A Hipshot Kickass bridge and USA Ultralite tuners ensure rock-solid stability, smooth intonation, and perfect balance with zero neck dive, the single most common complaint about heavy basses addressed before it can become a problem. Stainless steel frets, ebony fingerboard, and split-anvil inlays round out an instrument designed for serious players who want uncompromising tone and playability in the low-tuned formats that doom, stoner rock, and progressive heavy music require. Available in Aged Silverburst and Goldburst finishes.
Warlord Bass — A direct descendant of Woodrite's flagship Warlord guitar, the instrument that launched the brand and built its reputation, the Warlord Bass takes the same bold double-cutaway design and applies it to the low end without compromise. A pair of Lace Sensor God of War Aries Soapbar pickups delivers massive low-end authority, articulate mids, and cutting treble clarity, with the broad dynamic range and extended frequency response that soapbar-style pickups produce at their best. The same bound mahogany body, ebony fingerboard, and split-anvil inlay aesthetic that defines the Warlord guitar translates directly to the bass, giving players a visually cohesive instrument pair for the heaviest stages and sessions.
