Nash Electric Basses — Your Instant Old Favorite

Everything that makes a Nash guitar extraordinary applies directly to the basses. Bill Nash, now joined by his son Britton, runs the largest independent hand-aged instrument operation in the world from Olympia, Washington, and the bass lineup carries every hallmark of the Nash approach: premium American components, Lollar pickups, Gotoh vintage hardware, nitrocellulose lacquer finishes, and hand-applied aging that makes a brand new instrument feel and look like a well-loved companion that has been on a thousand gigs. Every Nash bass is technically pristine and visually lived-in, and the combination is, as players who have owned one will tell you, impossible to go back from.

The bass lineup mirrors the philosophy of the guitar side precisely: honor the great vintage Fender bass designs of the 1950s and 1960s with the best available modern components, age every instrument by hand to a level the player specifies, and deliver a setup so good that dealers consistently describe it as among the finest they have received from any manufacturer. The Nautilus Neck, Nash's proprietary neck technology, delivers significantly lower action, freedom from fret rattle, increased sustain, and effortless bending without fretting out, a genuine advancement on the vintage platform that improves the playing experience without altering the tonal character or visual authenticity of the instrument.

Aging Levels

Every Nash bass is available in four aging levels: light, medium, heavy, and extra heavy. Light aging produces a bass that looks like it has been played regularly and cared for, with subtle checking in the lacquer and lightly tarnished hardware. Medium deepens the wear, adding more body dings, finish checking, and hardware patina. Heavy produces an instrument that tells a convincing story of years of hard professional use. Extra heavy is the most dramatic option, reserved for players who want maximum vintage character and the kind of visual identity that no production relic instrument can credibly deliver.

The Models

PB-52 — Nash's interpretation of the original 1952 Precision Bass, built with an ash body, 20-fret maple neck, single-coil pickup, and the minimalist layout of the instrument that Leo Fender introduced to the world. Traditionally finished in Butterscotch Blonde with a one-ply black pickguard, and available in all Nash standard colors for players who want the earliest Precision Bass character in a finish of their choosing.

PB-55 — A mid-1950s Precision Bass specification with the split-coil hum-canceling pickup that Gibson introduced in 1957 and the slightly updated body shape that defined the P-Bass through the late 1950s. Available in ash and alder body options in Nash's full range of standard colors, with gold anodized, white, mint, tortoise, and black pickguard options.

PB-57 — Nash's most popular Precision Bass model, based on the tremendously influential late-1950s P-Bass specification with the split-coil pickup, updated body shape, and the hum-canceling, higher-output voice that made the Precision Bass the definitive rock and studio bass for decades. Available in ash and alder, with all standard Nash color and pickguard options and the full range of dealer upgrades including left-handed configuration, bound and blocked neck, Jazz Bass neck profile, and JB bridge pickup with stack knob setup.

PB-63 — The early-1960s Precision Bass specification, with a rosewood fingerboard, three-ply pickguard, and the slightly rounder, warmer neck profile of the era. Available in all Nash standard colors in both ash and alder body configurations, with the same dealer upgrade options as the PB-57.

JB-63 — Nash's Jazz Bass model, based on the mid-1960s offset-body bass that brought added midrange and treble clarity, a thinner neck, and the dual single-coil pickup voice that has made the Jazz Bass the most versatile production bass design ever created. The JB-63 delivers all of that with Lollar pickups, Gotoh vintage hardware, and Nash's hand-applied aging in a package that sounds, feels, and looks like a great vintage Jazz Bass that someone has been playing for sixty years. Available in alder with rosewood or maple neck options, standard and fretless configurations, and the full range of Nash color and pickguard choices. Also available in a five-string configuration for players who need extended range without leaving the vintage Jazz Bass aesthetic behind.
