Castedosa Electric Basses — Fender DNA, Family Built, Bass Done Right
Everything that makes a Castedosa guitar extraordinary applies directly to the bass. Carlos Lopez spent sixteen years as a Fender Custom Shop Master Builder, Stephanie Lopez winds every pickup by hand, and the family ethos that drives the entire Castedosa operation runs through the single bass model the brand has introduced with the same care and intention that shaped every guitar before it.
The Castedosa bass was not built to fill a catalog slot. It came to life, as Carlos puts it, with the desire to bring bass players an instrument that inspires, built around the same obsessive material selection, aged lacquer finishing, and hand-wound pickup philosophy that defines everything else the Castedosa family makes.
The Conchers Bass
The Conchers Bass follows the Castedosa Conchers body shape, bringing the distinctive silhouette that introduced the brand to the world into a short-scale bass platform built specifically for players who want boutique quality, inspiring feel, and a voice that stands entirely apart from production instrument alternatives.
The body is alder, finished in aged lacquer in the same period-correct colors that appear across the guitar lineup, including Orange Sparkle, Aged Sonic Blue, and other Castedosa signature finishes. The quartersawn roasted maple neck carries a 12-inch radius ebony fretboard, a tonal choice Carlos made deliberately: ebony was specifically chosen for the subtle, special character it brings to the low-end voice of the instrument, adding a clarity and articulation that rosewood and maple alternatives cannot quite match. Twenty Jescar frets, a 30-inch short scale, 1.50-inch nut width, cream neck binding, bone nut, and block inlays complete a specification that is unambiguously boutique at every point.
Pickups are Curtis Novak, among the most respected names in the bass pickup world and a choice that reflects Carlos's commitment to sourcing the best available components rather than defaulting to whatever is most convenient. The result is a bass that one player described simply as one of a kind, and it is hard to argue with that assessment.
Short Scale, Full Heart
The 30-inch scale length is a deliberate design choice that reflects the same philosophy behind every Castedosa instrument: build for feel and inspiration first, specifications second. Short-scale basses are warmer, more elastic under the fingers, and more immediately comfortable for players who come to the bass from a guitar background or simply prefer a playing experience that doesn't demand a wide reach. The Conchers Bass delivers all of that without sacrificing the tonal authority and definition that a great electric bass must have.
