Bacci Electric Basses — Tuscany's Most Innovative Bass Guitars

Everything that makes a Bacci electric guitar extraordinary applies equally to the basses Bruno Bacci builds in his farmhouse workshop between Florence and Lucca. The same obsessive attention to tonewoods. The same belief that wood comes with a soul that a skilled luthier must capture and interpret. The same maximum output of 300 instruments per year across the entire Bacci lineup, ensuring that every bass receives the time and personal attention it deserves. And the same willingness to pursue genuinely new ideas, even when those ideas have never been attempted before.

The Bacci bass lineup is small, deeply personal, and built around relationships with some of the finest players in the world. Michael League, composer, producer, and founder of Snarky Puppy, collaborated directly with Bruno on the Amrita bass over four years of research and development, and his verdict was unambiguous: the two Bacci Amrita basses he owns contain all of the frequencies you want to produce as a bass player, and none of the frequencies you don't.

The Models

Amrita — The instrument that put Bacci basses on the global map, and one of the most sonically and conceptually original electric basses ever made. The Amrita's defining material is twenty-year-aged woodworm timber, a wood traditionally overlooked in instrument making, in which the larvae of wood-boring beetles have bored natural acoustic chambers through the body over decades of aging. Bruno's four years of research and development transformed this unconventional material into a sonic advantage: the natural wormholes function as acoustic chambers that enhance the bass's depth and clarity, producing a sound that blends the warmth and resonance of vintage instruments with the crispness and articulation of a modern bass. Light in weight, extraordinarily rich in sound, and unmistakable in appearance. The Michael League Woodworm Signature Edition, limited to forty pieces, is the most celebrated version of the design and one of the most collectible bass instruments produced in the last decade.

Marleo — Bruno's most contemporary bass design and the newest model in the Bacci lineup, available in four, five, and six-string configurations. The Marleo features an original Bacci brass bridge machined from a single piece of metal, designed for dynamic response, full sustain, and perfect pitch retention. The active preamp is balanced to eliminate the volume difference between active and passive modes, a practical engineering solution that working players appreciate immediately. Most remarkably, the Marleo's weight distribution is engineered so precisely that the instrument balances on the lap without any support from the hands, an apparently impossible feature that players who have experienced it describe as genuinely transformative for long playing sessions. Available with Zen Blade pickups and a push-pull knob for switching between 800 and 400hz mid frequency settings.

A Bass Worth Waiting For

With a maximum annual output of 300 instruments across the entire Bacci lineup, basses and guitars combined, availability is always limited. Every Bacci bass is hand-finished and personally set up by Bruno before it leaves the workshop, adjusted for maximum vibration and sound definition in a process that no production facility can replicate.
