Roggero Acoustic Guitars — Scientific Curiosity, Artistic Intention

Brice Roggero grew up in a home filled with acoustic guitars and creative energy in France, music and woodworking woven into his life from an early age. He spent a decade working as a schoolteacher before reaching a turning point that many players will understand immediately: the pull toward making instruments that inspire emotion was stronger than anything else. He walked away from the classroom in 2019 and set up his workshop in Vichy, in the Auvergne region of central France, immersing himself in the teachings of modern masters including Michael Greenfield and Ervin Somogyi, spending countless nights studying, taking notes, and experimenting at the bench.

He is entirely self-taught, and it shows only in the best possible sense. His guitars first came to international attention through the 2021 Boutique Guitar Showcase, where their playability, balance, and richly voiced character drew immediate comparisons to builders with decades more experience. The North American Guitar, one of the most respected boutique acoustic dealers in the world, began stocking his instruments shortly after. Brice now works side by side with the team at Wild Custom Guitars while continuing to build his own acoustic line, producing just six to seven instruments per year.

The Approach

Brice describes his work as driven by scientific curiosity and artistic intention in equal measure, and both are audible and visible in every guitar he makes. He combines empirical tap-tuning and meticulous voicing with a refined design aesthetic that draws a player in before the first note is struck. Subtle asymmetrical details, striking segmented rosettes in carbon fiber, burl, and resin, carbon fiber accents, and Jescar EVO Gold frets are recurring signatures across the lineup. The look is always considered and cohesive, never decorative for its own sake.

His tonewood palette draws on both classics and alternatives, sourced from trusted European suppliers with sustainability and sonic exploration equally in mind. Swiss Moon Spruce, Adirondack spruce, Redwood, and cedar tops are paired with Indian rosewood, Madagascar rosewood, Bois de Rose, Koa, Pau Ferro, and Malaysian Blackwood back and sides, with each combination chosen to serve the specific voice and playing style of the instrument being built.

The Models

RGo-S — A 00-sized 12-fret model with a warm, intimate voice and exceptional comfort under the hands. Surprisingly powerful for its body size, and particularly well suited to fingerstyle playing, composing, and recording. The model that first introduced Brice's work to the wider acoustic world.

RGo-M — Brice's most versatile model, an OM-inspired design with a well-balanced voice, warm bass notes, and clear trebles that handles both fingerstyle and strumming with equal authority. The model most recommended for singer-songwriters and players who want one acoustic that can do everything.

RGo-L — A larger-bodied instrument that sits between a dreadnought and a grand auditorium, delivering a powerful, rich, and balanced voice with the projection and tonal complexity that players who perform or record at higher volumes demand.

All three models are available as standard builds or fully bespoke commissions, with options including bevels, soundports, multiscale configurations, and an extensive range of tonewood upgrades.
