Epiphone Acoustic Guitars — Gibson Heritage, Accessible Price

Epiphone's story stretches back further than Gibson's. Founded in 1873 by Anastasios Stathopoulos in Greece and later brought to New York, Epiphone spent decades as one of Gibson's most formidable rivals before being acquired in 1957. Rather than retire the name, Gibson made a decision that has shaped the acoustic guitar market ever since: keep Epiphone alive as a distinct brand, build on its heritage, and use it to bring Gibson's most celebrated designs within reach of players at every level.

Today that mission is more fully realized than at any point in the brand's history. The Inspired by Gibson acoustic collection, developed in close collaboration with Gibson's Custom Acoustic facility in Bozeman, Montana, brings the shapes, tonewoods, construction details, and iconic visual appointments of the most revered acoustics Gibson has ever produced to players who want genuine Gibson DNA without the Gibson price tag.

Inspired by Gibson Collection

The Inspired by Gibson acoustics are the closest Epiphone has ever come to the real thing, and the gap has never been smaller. All-solid wood construction, thermally aged spruce tops with scalloped X-bracing, Indian rosewood fretboards, bone nuts and saddles, the iconic Gibson open-book headstock, and LR Baggs electronics are standard across the premium models. Each instrument was developed directly from the original Gibson specification, with Gibson's acoustic team in Bozeman involved at every stage of the design process.

1942 Banner J-45 Reissue — A faithful recreation of the original wartime J-45 that earned the nickname "The Workhorse." Thermally aged solid spruce top, solid mahogany back and sides, V-shaped mahogany neck, and vintage details including a teardrop pickguard and three-on-a-plate tuners with cream buttons.

1957 SJ-200 Reissue — The King of the Flat-Tops, brought within reach. All-solid construction with a thermally aged Sitka spruce top, figured maple back and sides, two-piece flame maple neck, Crown inlays, Moustache bridge, and bone nut and saddle.

1960 Hummingbird Reissue — Gibson's first square-shoulder dreadnought and one of the most visually iconic acoustic designs ever made. Thermally aged solid spruce top, solid mahogany back and sides, the engraved Hummingbird pickguard, and LR Baggs electronics for stage-ready performance.

1963 Dove Reissue — The Dove's maple back and sides deliver a bright, projecting voice with sparkling treble clarity, paired with the guitar's distinctive dove pickguard and split parallelogram inlays that make it one of the most recognizable acoustics on any stage.

Pre-War SJ-200 Rosewood — The rarest and most tonally complex model in the Inspired by Gibson acoustic lineup, drawing on the original pre-war SJ-200 specifications with rosewood back and sides in place of the later maple, producing a warmer, more harmonically complex voice with greater bass depth and midrange richness.

Inspired by Gibson Standard Collection

For players who want genuine Gibson-inspired construction at a more accessible price point, the Inspired by Gibson Standard acoustic collection delivers all-solid wood construction, solid spruce tops, mahogany back and sides, and the classic Gibson shapes that have defined popular music for decades, including the J-45 Standard, Hummingbird Standard, and L-00 Standard, all available with Fishman electronics and rosewood fretboards.

Original Collection and Bluegrass Collection

Epiphone's Original Collection acoustics bring the brand's own heritage designs to players at the most accessible price points in the lineup, including the DR-100 dreadnought and the FT-350SCE thinline cutaway. The Bluegrass Collection rounds out the acoustic family with open-back banjos and mandolins that carry the same commitment to playability and value that runs through the entire Epiphone lineup.

The Best Acoustic Guitar Value on the Market

No brand at Epiphone's price points offers more acoustic guitar for the money. Whether you are a first-time player looking for a reliable, great-sounding instrument to learn on, a working musician who needs a stage-ready acoustic with professional electronics, or a serious player who wants a genuine piece of Gibson heritage without the Custom Shop price, there is an Epiphone acoustic that was built for you.
