The Gibson Custom Shop PSL Les Paul Custom Figured Red Widow is a striking evolution of the Les Paul Custom legacy, merging timeless elegance with bold visual character. Dressed in a high-gloss nitrocellulose lacquer finish, the Red Widow reveals the depth and dimension of its handpicked 2-piece AAA maple top, alive with vivid figuring and dramatic contrast. Multi-ply binding frames the top and body with classic Custom refinement, while the iconic single-cut Les Paul silhouette delivers unmistakable presence and heritage.

The foundation of this instrument is a 1-piece solid mahogany back enhanced with traditional 9-hole weight relief, maintaining the legendary Les Paul sustain while improving comfort and balance. The long tenon neck joint maximizes tonal transfer between the solid mahogany neck and body, contributing to exceptional resonance and sustain. Finished in gold hardware, the aesthetic is both luxurious and commanding—black multi-ply pickguard, black mounting rings, black speed knobs, and a cream switch tip providing elegant contrast against the deep red figured maple and gleaming gold-plated pickup covers.

The solid mahogany neck is carved to a Modern Medium C profile, measuring approximately .82" at the first fret and .965" at the twelfth, offering a smooth, substantial grip that feels equally suited to rhythm and lead work. A 24.75" (628.65mm) scale length preserves the classic Les Paul warmth and string tension, while the 42.85mm (1.69") Corian nut ensures precise spacing and tuning stability. The ebony fingerboard features a 12" (304.8mm) radius and 22 medium-jumbo frets, delivering effortless bends and articulate note definition. Mother-of-pearl block inlays add traditional Custom elegance, and the engraved 2-ply Les Paul Custom truss rod cover underscores its premium pedigree.

Sonically, the guitar is powered by a calibrated set of Gibson 490 series humbuckers: a 490R in the neck for smooth, expressive warmth and a 490T in the bridge for focused midrange punch and articulate output. The electronics are built around a hand-wired harness featuring two 500K CTS volume pots, two 500K CTS tone pots, and a Switchcraft 3-way toggle switch, ensuring reliability and nuanced tonal control. Whether delivering creamy cleans, blues-driven grit, or full-bodied rock saturation, the Red Widow responds with clarity and dynamic depth.

Performance hardware includes a classic Tune-O-Matic bridge paired with a stop bar tailpiece for solid sustain and accurate intonation. Grover Kidney tuners with gold plating provide dependable tuning stability, complemented by brass strap buttons and a standard 1/4" output jack. Strung from the factory with .010–.046 gauge strings, the instrument is ready for expressive bends and balanced tension straight out of the case.

The Gibson Custom Shop PSL Les Paul Custom Figured Red Widow arrives in a Custom Shop hardshell case and includes a Certificate of Authenticity booklet, affirming its elite craftsmanship. Combining traditional Les Paul power with vivid figured maple beauty and refined Custom appointments, the Red Widow stands as a commanding instrument built for discerning players and collectors alike.
