Twinkle Twinkle Little Star- I wonder what you are?
I’ll tell you what: a delightfully light and slingable electric guitar, with a shape that is shockingly comfortable. Tailored to the human form, the parts that actually interface with the player are all softly concave.
Made of bearclaw-figured sitka spruce (originally designated for acoustic soundboards) the body and neck are naturally super resonant. Extra rigidity is achieved by a unique feature exclusive to Sankey Guitars: the neck and body are covered with layers of flax linen and mulberry-fibre paper, bedded in a matrix of extremely high gram-strength Japanese fish glue. This creates a strong and light composite material, akin to an all-organic carbon fibre.
In addition, buried in the neck is a “soul” of extremely stiff and stable Brazilian Kingwood. This Dalbergia species is also used for the fretboard, bridge base, and knobs. The single pickup bobbin is made from it too, laser-cut and stacked together. For a bridge-position single-coil it creates a deceptively lush and full tone. Even the bridge is a bespoke unit, 3-d printed in aluminum. Frets are medium-tall stainless steel and plek-processed as usual.
