One word: gain. Seriously. You haven't heard a sound quite like the sound that comes from the Goodsell Black Dog 20 amplifier head. With two 12AX7 gain stages, this amp's can go from plexi-distortion to super clean with the turn of a knob.
This newest addition to the Goodsell family features a more complex two-stage gain structure and full 3-way tone stack, which may be by-passed by foot switch for an additional 20dB of gain. The Black Dog 20 is powered by a pair of E84L/7189s, While the Black Dog 50 has a pair of EL34s. Cathode-biasing once again means hassle-free ownership while imparting a unique sonic signature for amps in this class. The voicing is early ’70s medium-high gain, with the ability to roll back into stellar clarity using only the knobs on your guitar. The Black Dog 20 is also available as a 1×12 combo with standard reverb. All Black Dogs are solid-state rectified.
