While many guitarists picture themselves on a stadium stage surrounded by adoring fans, other musicians prefer playing guitars privately. The Collings C10 Deluxe’s small body, well-balanced sound, and quality design makes it the perfect guitar to casually pick up and strum for yourself or a group of friends.

Smaller Collings Guitars Still Show Their Quality

Compared to the larger acoustic guitars available today, the Collings C10 Deluxe may look like the runt of the litter. However, this model represents the flawless Collings Guitars artistry as well as any of their big-bodied guitars. In addition to flaunting a full-body sun burst design, Adirondack braces, and ebony accessories, the Collings C10 Deluxe offers many benefits as a smaller guitar, including:

  • A lightweight body that travels well
  • Fairly versatile capabilities
  • Warm, sweet tones

Comfortable, Lightweight Body

In addition, the comfortable, lightweight body and traditional design harkens back to the popular “parlor guitar” of the 1920s, when non-amplified live performances were the norm in smaller venues, homes, and comfortable rooms. You may be hard pressed to find a venue that can support a smaller guitar these days, so most performers will be better off with a louder model like the Collings OM1 Varnish. However, any acoustic guitar can be performance-ready with the right pick ups, including the Collings C10 Deluxe. Travelling musicians may in fact prefer this smaller model because its lightness makes it travel-friendly.

Versatility & Sweet, Well-Balanced Sound

The Collings C10 Deluxe is built primarily for finger stylists, but for a sharper tone a flat pick can be used without losing its warm timbre. This Collings guitar’s tone is perfect for supporting happy or bittersweet melodies, making it a favorite among many folk and fingerstyle musicians.

My Verdict

While the Collings C10 Deluxe is not for loud or heavy-handed players, its comfortable short scale body and pure sounds make it an excellent choice for any private-playing musician.
